This is Jean's place, in Oyonnax, 30 minutes from Geneva. And this is where our new Pierredar sunglasses are made. It's teeming with layout designers, eyewear craftsmen and fitters, with young apprentices training alongside more experienced veterans. There is pride for this activity, which provides a livelihood for an entire region. By producing here, close to the Glacier Optics office, we want to promote this local know-how and its constant desire to innovate, with the aim of continuing to produce here, as previous generations have done.
For this new pair, we worked closely with Jean, a 3rd generation artisan eyewear maker and owner of the Lucal family business in neighbouring France. We're particularly proud to work with a company that's human in scale and character, and at the cutting edge of know-how in terms of new materials. When we walked through Jean's doors, we quickly realised that the team is passionate, both young and experienced, who relies on ancestral local know-how.
PIERREDAR

With a frame made from recycled stainless steel from Norway, the
Pierredar features a Zeiss monolens, available in categories 3 and 4. This model is available in sizes S and M and in 4 colours. Nose pads and temple tips are fully adujstable. Our aim is to offer a limited range of products so that we can concentrate on greater customisation of each model (size, colour, choice of lenses, etc.).
